Are Cross Back Chairs Stackable?

Cross Back Chairs Stack

The answer is: it depends on the supplier of the chair. There are cross back chairs on the market that are not stackable so potential buyers of these chairs – where stacking is a need or want for them – should double check that the chair they’re buying can stack.

Most suppliers will explicitly say that a chair is or isn’t stackable on their cross back chair product page – however some may have forgotten that detail.

The easiest way to tell if a cross back chair is stackable is by looking at the seat in the back corners. There should be a semi-circular notch out in each corner – where the stacking cross-back chair’s legs would nest.

What do Scratches Look Like on Aluminum Chiavari Chairs vs Resin Chiavari Chairs?

We had a potential customer pose a great question last week regarding aluminum Chiavari chairs and how they compare to resin Chiavari chairs in terms of scratching.

Any banquet hall, event venue, hotel or Rental Company, unfortunately, has to deal with scratches as a consequence of using event chairs. Knowing what the scratches will look like on the Chiavari chair you end up going with gives you the ability to plan what to do when scratches do occur.

Here’s how scratches appear on Aluminum Chiavari Chairs:

Scratched Aluminum Chiavari Chair

Aluminum Chiavari Chairs, when scratched, will show the silver metal underneath. If you have Silver Aluminum Chiavari Chairs this won’t make a huge difference as the colours will be similar, however, black, mahogany, gold, and white will all show scratches easily.

Here’s how scratches appear on our Resin Chiavari Chairs:

Scratched Resin Chivari Chair

Our resin Chiavari chairs have a similar colour resin underneath the exterior paint and gloss finish. If a scratch occurs, the scratch will minimally show. I specify our Chiavari chairs, particularly as we know there is other resin Chiavari chairs on the market that have a white resin core with exterior paint in black, gold, silver, or mahogany and a gloss finish. This is to bring the cost of the chair down as white resin is cheaper to produce than a coloured resin that better hides a scratch.

Coming Soon: Metallic Chair Sashes

Last year we brought in wedding chair covers in both spandex and polyester. This helped banquet halls, golf courses and hotels extend their banquet chair investment while rental companies could have another option to upsell brides on. The chair covers were available in the more neutral colours of white and black.

This year we’re continuing to expand our tablecloth / chair cover inventory. We decided to venture into offering a little more colour. You heard it here first…

I’m pleased to announce that coming at the end of January are Metallic Chair Sashes.

Metallic Chair Sash

Available in gold metallic, these chair sashes give an extra oomph to white or black spandex chair covers. Gold continues to be hot colour in the special event industry and these metallic chair sashes would complement gold rimmed dinnerware or gold flatware perfectly.

Additional details:

  • Machine washable
  • Works on different chair backs regardless of shape
  • 190gsm spandex

Pricing will be formally set once they’re in stock so check back to the blog for the announcement that they’re now in inventory!

How much storage space for stackable chairs is needed

Over the past few weeks we have been getting asked a few prospects and customers on what are the dimensions of our stackable chairs are, how big is a stack of our stackable chairs and how much space will they need to store 100 stackable chairs.

To determine your storage requirements there are a few key measurements that are needed to help with any calculation you will need to do.

1. What are the dimensions of a single (1) stackable blow mold chair?

Our blow mold stacking chair is (approximately) 31.75” tall x 17.5” wide x 24.5” deep.

2. What happens to these dimensions each time you stack a chair?

Each time a chair is stacked on top of another blow mold stacking chair, it adds 4” to the height. So a stack of 6 chairs would reach a height of about 51.75” (formula: 31.75” + (5 chairs x 4” of additional height). The safest amount that we recommend our blow mold stacking chair to stack is 13 chairs – which would be 79.75” high (31.75” + (12 x 4”)). In addition, the depth needs to be considered. A stack of 13 chairs will cause the depth requirements to increase slightly, resulting in a depth of about 29.9”.

3. And finally, what happens when you pack a bunch of chairs into a storage area?

We need to see how much space would fit 100 blow mold stacking chairs, if we put 4 stacks (stacked 2 x 2) of 13 stacking chairs (52 chairs total) takes up a space that was about 3ft wide x 5ft deep x 6.6ft high.

In order to store 100 chairs, we would need 6 stacks of 13 chairs and 2 stacks of 11 chairs. The storage space footprint was 3ft wide x 10ft deep x 6.6ft high.

4. In the event you need to increase/optimize the number of blow mold stacking chairs you store in a confined area, it is possible to place the top blow mold stacking chair upside down.

Doing so would result in the stack of chairs growing by an additional 1 inch in height and 2.75 inches in depth (due to the angle the back of the seat is inclined at).
