Dennis Heathcote, President of National Event Supply, is currently running for the position of Associate Director of the Canadian Rental Association-Ontario.

Dennis has more than 20 years of sales and marketing experience in small- and medium-size technology companies. In 2005, Heathcote and his partner, Diana McKee, purchased D & K Imports to deliver quality products to the rental market across Canada. As an associate member of the Canadian Rental Association and ARA, D & K Imports has exhibited at The Rental Show, the CRA Ontario Trade Show, the Prairie Show and the Quebec Expo. He recently launched a new division, National Event Supply. Dennis is running to give back to the rental industry. “Membership offers so much value to both rental business operators and manufacturers and suppliers,” he says. “As associate director, I would like to share the value of membership, help the CRA Ontario grow and find new ways to serve its members.”

"As 2011 progresses, we are seeing increased strength and optimism in the rental sector. It is my hope to parlay this strength in the sector to increase the breadth of products that we offer as a service to our customers as well as enhance our current offerings." Dennis hopes for your support at the April 20, 2011 meeting and looks forward to serving the Canadian Rental Industry in the future.

The 2011 Rental Show was held from February 27th through to March 2nd at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Convention Center in Las Vegas. The Tents & Events sessions were held throughout Sunday, starting with a breakfast for all attendees that was co-sponsored by D & K Imports (parent company of National Event Supply).

Monday, February 28th was the first day of the 3 day trade show. There was such a large crowd waiting to get onto the trade show floor that the doors were opened 20 minutes early. All day long you could feel the buzz and excitement in the air. The pace was frenetic.

We had numerous visitors to our booth who were coming to check out our Crystal Chiavari Chairs. We heard from numerous visitors that our Crystal Chiavari Chair was the best one at the show. Visitors were also excited by our Folding Cocktail Tables. These tables have been incredibly popular for the past two or three years, and are a great alternative to the standard cruiser tables.

All in all, we had a great time at The Rental Show in Las Vegas, and already making plans for the 2012 version of the show in the beautiful city of New Orleans. We hope to see you there!

What are some advantages plastic folding tables have over wood folding tables?

We're partial to both kinds of tables here at National Event Supply. However, that's not to say that there aren't advantages to choosing the plastic folding tables over the wood folding tables. (There are also advantages to choosing wood tables over plastic folding tables which I'll cover in a future blog entry.)

One of the primary advantage of the plastic folding tables is their relatively light weight. Our 5 foot round plastic folding table is 18lbs lighter than it's wood counterpart. Our 6ft round wood tables are 16lbs heavier than their plastic counterparts. On the 8ft and 6ft rectangular tables, the plastic folding tables are 18lbs lighter. If weight is a concern, you may be more interested in the plastic tables.

Another advantage to the plastic folding tables is that they are thinner when they are collapsed. An 8ft rectangular table is 3" thick while our 8ft plastic folding tables are 2 1/8" thick. That means you can store 3 plastic folding tables in the same amount of space that you can store 2 wood folding tables.

Finally, our plastic folding tables have been tested to meet or exceed the BIFMA standards (Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association) by the Paris, France based international testing organization, Bureau VERITAS. They also come with a two year warranty against material and manufacturing defects.

The BC Foodservice Expo was held in Vancouver this year on January 30 & 31, and National Event Supply was there! We met a lot of great people as we showed off our products.

Tradeshows are always a great way to "kick the tires" so to speak. At the BC Foodservice Expo, visitors to our booth got to touch and feel our dinnerware and flatware. They got a chance to sit in our chairs, and see how strong they really are. They also got a chance to meet Dennis, the president of National Event Supply, and talk to him about our company and about our products.
