Can Melamine Platters be Used in Refrigerated Display Cases?

Melamine Platters

Melamine platters are a saving grace for caterers, restaurants and other foodservice organizations because they have the same aesthetic look as porcelain platters while generally being lighter to handle and less prone to breakage.

We recently had a customer who operates high-end grocery retailers in Toronto and also a complimentary catering arm ask us the question: Can Melamine Platters be used in Refrigerated Display Cases? What a great question!

Temperature controlled food counters are in any deli, bakery or grocery store and used to safely display food at their optimal temperature while allowing potential customers to view. Oftentimes, food is displayed on porcelain platters, or porcelain bowls. Melamine platters or bowls would work equally well as melamine works well in a temperature range of 2°C – 93°C (35.6°F - 200°F). Anywhere below zero degrees melamine platters and bowls will get quite brittle and breakage will more easily occur.

If you have a refrigerated display case in that temperature range, melamine platters and bowls will work quite nicely with your food offerings.

Quick FAQ: How Tall is a Cocktail Table for Standing Receptions?

Standing Cocktail Reception With Cruiser Tables

National Event Supply currently sells three different styles of cocktail tables and while there is not a single standard height there is a range to look for. We would recommend looking for a cocktail/cruiser table that is in the 41" to 44" tall range; National Event Supply Cocktail Tables are 42" and 43" tall. We recommend this because the height range is comfortable for the vast majority of people to use in a cocktail party or standing reception setting. It is not too tall for shorter people, and not too short for taller people. Additionally this height is easy to match with a linen, either a spandex cocktail tablecloth or 120 inch round polyester tablecloth.

Menu Trends: Showcasing the Hottest Appetizer Flavours
Restaurant Menu Trends

Technomic released new research on the hottest appetizer menu trend flavours hitting the Canadian market. Canadian Restaurant & Foodservice News featured this research in its July/August 2014 issue. You should definitely check this issue out as Lizzy Freier, Menu Analysis Editor explains the food flavour trends in more detail along with showcasing restaurants across Canada already utilizing the flavours. Most prominently, the article focused on the 10 hottest appetizer flavours that are being capitalized on in menus across the country. Below we’ve rounded up 5 of the 10 appetizer flavours that are on trend and provided suggestions on how this flavour can be incorporated into your menu.

Appetizer Menu Trend #1: Sage

Sage Menu Trend

Sage is a fantastic herb best known for balancing meat dishes. It was the fastest growing flavour based on Technomic’s research. Consider using this herb in a starter red potato salad with caramelized onions.

Appetizer Menu Trend #2: Peanut

Peanuts Menu Trend

Peanut is frequently used in Asian cuisine in particular. You could consider jumping on the lettuce wrap bandwagon and pairing your delicacy with a peanut sauce as an appetizer. You could also feature a sweet potato fritter with peanut dipping sauce as a limited time offer to capitalize on this trend.

Appetizer Menu Trend #3: Maple

Maple Menu Trend

Maple flavour is not a surprising addition to the hottest trends. Maple Syrup in particular has become a hip trend with the entrance of boutique syrup retailers. Maple pairs well with spicy sauces or with salted items to make a juxtaposition of sweet/salty flavour. You could offer a twist on the traditional Caesar salad with maple salted bacon bits to liven up the plate. You might also consider featuring a Maple Corn & Butternut Squash soup starting September 1st.

Appetizer Menu Trend #4: Pistachio

Pistachios Menu Trend

Pistachio is most traditionally used for baklava and pistachio ice cream. They generally are known for their rich and nutty taste that works well alone or combined with other flavours. To take advantage of this menu trend, what about pairing salmon puffs with a pistachio basil butter? Alternatively you could offer pistachio-goat cheese bites as a starter option.

Appetizer Menu Trend #5: Lime

Lime Menu trend

Lime is a citrus flavour most traditionally associated with Mexican foods and pie. If your restaurant theme supports it you could create an appetizer of cilantro lime chicken tacos with a slaw on top. Tacos are a big hit these days. You could go a totally different route and offer a salad with ginger-lime dressing.

Hopefully these 5 appetizer flavour trends will pique your interest and you can use the flavours to your advantage.

How to Assemble a Folding Pedestal Table

While I’d like to say our NES Folding Pedestal Table is really easy to assemble and disassemble – if you’ve never done it before it can take a few scratches of your head before you figure it out. I thought because it took me a couple fumbling embarrassing seconds to figure it out I would write a how to post to talk through how to assemble a folding pedestal table.

What an unassembled Folding Pedestal Table will look like in box

Step 1:

Remove table top from on top of base and identify which two tabletop clips have sides and which two clips has one side missing

How much does an Adjustable Height Folding Table Cost?

Adjustable Height Folding TableAdjustable Height Folding Tables are a great addition to any event – to create bars, standing registration desks or more. Having the height capacity anywhere from 30" (standard table height) all the way to 43" makes them a valuable table to have in inventory as they can do two jobs for the price of one. One of the questions we get asked often is "How much does an adjustable height folding table cost?"

This blog post will help to answer that question.

Price of Adjustable Height Folding Table

The price of an adjustable height folding table varies based on length of table (industry standard is 4ft or 6ft lengths), material of the table, brand of the table and table leg specifications. For the purpose of this post we will be looking at a 6ft x 30" adjustable height table in plastic. In Canada, 6ft x 30" adjustable height folding tables range from $74.00 – $129.00 excluding taxes and shipping. This range is based on whether it’s a wholesale or retail price of table being purchased.

Shipping costs of Adjustable Height Tables

With the busyness that comes with the event industry, there are times when you either don't have the time or physically can't pick up the tables from a warehouse or store – foregoing the free shipping option. If a store pick up isn’t an option, shipping costs would range based on the number of tables you are ordering. Because tables are most often shipped on skids instead of in individual packages (to prevent damages mid-transit) shipping costs are charged on the weight of the total shipment. For example, 10 adjustable height folding tables shipping from our warehouse in Mississauga, ON to Moncton, NB you’d be looking at $10.06 or less per table in shipping charges.

Hopefully this blog post gives you a range required to start planning what budget you can allocate to adjustable height folding tables.

We supply adjustable height folding tables and a wide range of other banquet tables to buy either online or through calling customer service. If you're interested in obtaining a quote including shipping to your location:
