There are a number of different folding tables on the market for hotels, banquet halls, party rental companies and other high-turnover industries where durable tables are not only a must, but a necessity. Today’s blog post will examine two kinds of folding tables that are often mistaken as being the same material – ABS Folding Tables vs Plastic Folding Tables. We had a potential customer pose a great question last week regarding aluminum Chiavari chairs and how they compare to resin Chiavari chairs in terms of scratching.

Any banquet hall, event venue, hotel or Rental Company, unfortunately, has to deal with scratches as a consequence of using event chairs. Knowing what the scratches will look like on the Chiavari chair you end up going with gives you the ability to plan what to do when scratches do occur.

Here’s how scratches appear on Aluminum Chiavari Chairs:

Aluminum Chiavari Chairs, when scratched, will show the silver metal underneath. If you have Silver Aluminum Chiavari Chairs this won’t make a huge difference as the colours will be similar, however, black, mahogany, gold, and white will all show scratches easily.

Here’s how scratches appear on our Resin Chiavari Chairs:

Our resin Chiavari chairs have a similar colour resin underneath the exterior paint and gloss finish. If a scratch occurs, the scratch will minimally show. I specify our Chiavari chairs, particularly as we know there is other resin Chiavari chairs on the market that have a white resin core with exterior paint in black, gold, silver, or mahogany and a gloss finish. This is to bring the cost of the chair down as white resin is cheaper to produce than a coloured resin that better hides a scratch.

As many of you know we’ve been expanding our event linen stock for over a year now. We brought in Spun Polyester, and added chair covers in polyester, spandex, and spandex ruched. We have also been adding to the different colours we offer – specifically in the most popular size spandex cocktail tablecover – the 30 inch.

They are made of 190 gsm spandex and feature reinforced feet to avoid any tearing or ripping occurring. Pricing starts at $23.50 for 1-29, $22.90 for 30 – 49, $22.29 for 50-99 and $21.69 for 100+.

We had a potential customer ask us a question regarding our plastic folding tables which we were 98% sure of the answer – but we weren’t 100%. That doesn’t sit well with us so we decided it was time to test it out. The client asked “Does food or wine stain plastic folding tables?” And from the best of our knowledge it isn’t extremely easy to stain the tables (we did leave a folding table outside for almost a year of Canadian weather) but it can definitely occur – particularly with some of the more difficult stains. So I thought I would test this out – determine whether the answer made sense – and if there was a way to fix the stain once it occurred. Check it out below:

1. I mimicked the spill occurring on the table. I chose Red Wine, Ketchup and Coffee for the stains I would put on the table. The reasoning behind those choices: I thought they would be the most common stains/spills that would occur during a special event.

2. I let the table sit 5 days. Here’s what it looked like after 5 days:

3. Then I wiped off the stains to check out the damage.

This picture shows the table after wiping off the coffee. I used water and a paper towel plus my elbow grease.

Here is the table as I’m wiping off the red wine (again with water and paper towel):

And how the “stain” (or lack thereof) looks once complete:

And here is what the ketchup looks like after a cleaning of water and paper towel:

Ketchup was the only substance that slightly stained the table – I’ve circled the stain in the photo because it is so faint that sometimes I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.
