It’s in Vancouver

Vancouver Skyline and Stanley ParkOkay, so I realize if you live in the lower mainland area of British Columbia, the prospect of traveling into or around the Vancouver area may not seem like a great idea to you. If that is the case consider this, not only is Vancouver one of Canada’s largest cities, it is also one of the world’s most livable cities. That's right, coming in just ahead of Toronto (4th place), and Calgary (5th place, tied), Vancouver was ranked as the 3rd most livable city in the world by The Economist. Don’t you just love to beat out the folks in Toronto and Calgary! Still not enough? Add in that the fantastic selection of restaurants, cafés, world class hotels, and fantastic setting and visiting the BC Connect show becomes a pretty exciting proposition.

Free Attendance

That’s right! CRFA members get to attend the BC Connect show for free. Compare that to the Toronto CRFA Show which costs $50 to attend and it is a no brainer! The BC Connect show gives you a great opportunity to visit with new and existing suppliers, talk to others in the industry, and maybe even learn a few things.

The Industry Lunch

The Industry Lunch features a keynote speech from Kevin Brauch, an Iron Chef America personality and Food Network Star. Kevin, on his TV series The Thirsty Traveler, explores food and drink in exotic locations. Having spent years in Toronto’s hottest night life establishments and restaurants before making the jump to TV, Kevin has extensive knowledge of the Food and Beverage industry.

The Beverage Showcase Pavilion

Sample Glasses Smaller than ShownLooking for a new British Columbia based craft beer to serve? What about an award winning British Columbia wine? If you are, you have found the right spot! The local craft beer scene across Canada has been a hot market for a few years now. Most restaurants and hotels are offering at least 1 local craft beer with many more offering 5 or more. If you are not offering any craft beer selections you are missing a great opportunity! You will want to be sure to check out the Beverage Showcase Pavilion at the BC Connect show to sample a variety of beverages that you may want to add to your menu.

Now that we have convinced you to attend the BC Connect Show, it only seems reasonable for you to visit our booth # 340/441. We look forward to seeing you October 27th and 28th, 2013 at the BC Connect Show in the Vancouver Convention Centre!

To put it mildly, Dudson has an incredible history. Founded in 1800 in Stoke-on-Trent, UK, Dudson has survived and thrived through 9 generations in the Dudson Family. A Gorgeous Wedding and other things from our Twitter Feed

Although we sell a lot of wedding and special event products, we don't usually have anything to do with wedding planning or special events planning here at National Event Supply. That doesn't mean that it isn't interesting to see what gifted planners can cook up. We also had an interesting article about a small batch distiller show up in our twitter feed that begged to be shared. Finally, from small batch booze to clean water, learn about the great work that charity: water is doing.

Hooray for Bollywood!

From bridesmaids dressed in bold coloured saris to a venue decorated with fabrics in the brightest of colours, this wedding was a multi-hued wonderland. Who says bridesmaids need to be dressed in pastels, or that table cloths need to be white? And elephants? They're always cool.

Vineyards, Craft Beer, and Small Batch Booze

The Niagara Peninsula is known for its great Canadian wines. There are also several incredible craft brewers in the area. Now I find out from BlogTO that they also have a small batch distiller that's putting together world class spirits. Dillon's Small Batch Distillers in Beamsville, ON have been producing Gin, White Rye, and Vodka since December of 2012 with a focus on utilizing the local bounty. If you're interested in learning more about the distillery, why not check out "Dillon's making world class booze just beyond the GTA" at BlogTO.

charity: water

I recently had the opportunity to hear the head of charity: water speak, and I was blown away. They're gearing up for their big September Campaign, and this year they're hoping to raise $2 Million dollars to bring clean drinking water to 100 Villages in Orissa, India. Scott showed how bringing clean water and sanitation can help break the cycle of poverty and promote social equality. A previous campaign purchased a deep well drill which is currently drilling and tweeting its way across Ethiopia. To learn more about the great work that they're doing, check out the charity: water website! charity: water

charity: water is a non-profit organization bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing countries. We use 100% of public donations to directly fund sustainable water solutions in areas of greatest need.

Right now, 800 million people on the planet don’t have access to clean and safe drinking water. That’s one in nine of us.

Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of diseases and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Children are especially vulnerable, as their bodies aren’t strong enough to fight diarrhea, dysentery and other illnesses.

Just $20 can give one person access to clean water
