Should you stack Chiavari Chairs with or without cushions?

Chiavari chairs are a special event staple partially because of their stacking abilities as well as their elegant design. Most event venues and party rental companies know they’re going to stack their Chiavari chairs – especially when they’re buying 100 – 200 chiavari chairs at a time. What they don’t always know – is how to stack them.

We’ve had a few customers ask us this question and thought it best to write a blog post on whether you should stack chiavari chairs with cushions on each seat – or whether you should stack Chiavari chairs without cushions.

Our answer: We would not recommend stacking your Chiavari chairs with the cushions still on the chairs. We will not replace cushions that have been damaged in this way and do not stack the chairs in our warehouse in this fashion.

Chiavari Chair Cushion Damaged by Stacking

Why don’t we stack Chiavari’s with cushions on them? We don’t stack Chiavari chairs with cushions on them as the weight of the Chiavari chair stacks can damage the foam insert of the cushion. This leaves permanent indentations in the foam which in turn could prevent a bride from renting the chairs (or a bride from renting your venue space with the chairs). We would recommend taking the cushions off prior to stacking. This will ensure your chair and cushion investment is maintained. This also applies if you have Chiavari chair storage covers. We would still recommend the cushions be stored separately from the Chiavari chair and Chiavari chair storage cover.

Pros and Cons of Spandex Folding Chair Covers

Spandex folding chair covers are a god-send for party rental companies, banquet halls and other event venues as they help extend the life of a folding chair investment. They also provide a cohesive look for a wedding and can be decorated with décor to create a visually appealing space. Every product has its pros and cons, and while we don’t (currently) stock spandex folding chair covers, we know that our customers buy them and want to know what are the positives and negatives of the chair cover in question. We want to provide our readers with an unbiased look at the pros and cons of spandex folding chair covers so that they can decide if the wedding chair cover is a product they’d like to invest in. Here are the pros and cons of spandex folding chair covers.

Pros:

  • Has a sleek, modern shape
  • Easily decorated with sashes
  • Machine washable
  • Stain and wrinkle resistant

Cons:

  • Only fits Samsonite style plastic folding chairs – doesn’t fit white resin or white wood folding chairs, or any padded folding chairs normally used in offices or churches.
  • Guests can’t place their personal items under the chair
  • More expensive than satin or polyester folding chair covers

10 Qualities to look for when recruiting an Event Planner for your Team

h/t this Linkedin Post

1. Creative Problem solving.

Magic Cube

“In other words, the ability to maneuver with grace, confidence and thoughtfulness all the known unknowns and unknown unknowns of an event and the people in attendance.”

2. Preparedness, Tactfulness and Patience.

Hourglass

“Be Prepared. Be Patient, Be Tactful (especially when you want to really injure someone who has been discourteous), and most of all be able to think on your feet because don't care how organized you are something out of the ordinary may happen.”

3. Team Player.

Team

“An event planner has to work with a team and other people in order to ensure the event is a success. This means that the manager should have the ability to tell and listen without any issues. It is important that the event manager understands what the client needs and then find ways to fulfill those needs or come up with different options.”

4. Great Listener.

Minions

“An event planner must be a good listener. He/she must be able to listen to every detail of what is required of him/her, both verbal and nonverbal messages and be able to interpret these to successful events.”

5. Impeccable Attention to Detail and Organization.

Desk

“Organization!!!!! Can you imagine being an event planner and not being organized...no way! :)”

6. Cool Confidence in Stressful Situations.

Sunset

“Always smiling :) , no matter what you are thinking on the inside. Most importantly keeping your cool. I think we have all heard the saying - Be like a duck. Calm on the surface, but always paddling like the dickens underneath.”

7. A Plethora of Industry Contacts.

Network

“A great network of industry partners cannot be too far down the list. An event planner who can work miracles usually doesn't do it alone. He/She needs partners in every industry who can deliver results at a moment’s notice. Gotta have a great caterer, gotta have a great flooring guy, pyrotechnics, print, AV, etc. etc. The more connected you are, the more solutions you can offer.”

8. The Ability to Humbly Admit Mistakes. There is nothing more endearing than a person willing and able to admit a mistake and actively work to find the solution.

Girl

“Events inevitably change and a planner either finds a solution for a problem or let's it impact the quality of the event. I've watched planners who immediately place responsibility on others. Not acceptable for a successful planner. Take ownership, think creatively, lead, and have back up plans. When something exceeds those parameters, even your plan b, make it work!”

9. Flexibility.

Yoga

“THINGS always come up, it is important to remember why you are there and what the purpose of your event is. I always enjoy ours because I strongly believe in what we are doing for our clients and the goal of our events, anything that comes up can be handled when prepared, just remember the overall goal!”

10. Customer Service Savvy.

Help Button

“It's all about customer service and providing that ultimate, memorable experience. As Jennifer Diller said, providing that customer service is about being flexible and being able to adapt to sudden changes during events. Event planning is an exercise in problem solving!”

Problems with Wood Folding Chairs

Wood Folding ChairsWe are the first to admit that no product is perfect but the product is perfect for your needs. What one company may hate, another company is in love with – especially in the events industry. Some party rental companies swear only by wood folding chairs while others swear only by resin folding chairs. What we like to do is educate and inform our prospects and customers of the pros and cons of products so they know exactly what type of product they’re dealing with before purchasing.

Event Chairs and Banquet tables can be quite a large purchase so we want to make sure our customers are able to choose the right product for their business. We’ve previously talked about the problems that exist with white resin folding chairs. Today’s post deals with the problems associated with Wood Folding Chairs.

1. Scratches show easily

Because wood folding chairs are made of pale wood and stained or painted to finish, event rental wear and tear by guests or transport can cause scratches to occur to the chair. Resin folding chairs don’t have the same problem as their colour is solid to the core. Some event rental companies prefer a wood folding chair though as wear and tear can be sanded and re-finished with a little work. Because of the nature of the material used, more general maintenance is required.

2. Don’t self-lock in place when stacked

Resin folding chairs are manufactured so that when they are stacked on top of one another they lock in place preventing movement. Wood folding chairs aren’t manufactured the same way and because of this don’t have the ability to lock in place when stacked on a chair cart. This can be rectified by a party rental company buying one or two ratcheting tie downs similar to this one from a home improvement store.

3. Can’t be left to the elements for long periods of time

Because the chairs are made of wood, they’re more susceptible to water damage, cracking and peeling than resin folding chairs. Pick up of the chairs needs to occur as soon after the event is finished to avoid any weather issues. Also if you don’t have dry indoor storage to store these chairs, you shouldn’t consider purchasing wood folding chairs.

Hopefully this post provides you with an idea of the issues you can expect with wood folding chairs.

Where to buy table skirts in Canada

17-ft Table Skirt

Table skirts are a staple for almost all tradeshows, banquet halls / event venues, hotels, golf courses and party rental companies. They work well for all registration desks, coat checks, exhibitor booths, buffet stations etc. If you’ve already been buying table skirts then this post isn’t really for you – unless you’re not happy with your original supplier. If you’re in the market to purchase table skirts, one of the most common things asked is where to buy table skirts in Canada? This post will round up 5 other suppliers besides National Event Supply, who also sell table skirts in Canada.

1. Textilehouse Canada

Based in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Textilehouse Canada is a supplier of premium chair covers, table overlays, and other event linens in Canada. They also can work on custom-made products upon request.

2. Displays2Go.ca

Based in Rhode Island, Displays 2 go recently created a Canadian website to service Canada. Shipments still come from the US but pricing is all based in Canadian dollars. Displays2go.ca has the largest inventory that I know of tradeshow and display related products.

3. Canadian Hotel Supply

With several American locations, Canadian Hotel Supply is owned by American Hotel Register co, and co-leases warehouse space in Toronto and Vancouver to offer hotels, restaurants and other companies with table linens, table skirts and other foodservice & hospitality supplies.

4. Linen Tablecloth

While they are based in the United States, LinenTablecloth has a Canadian ecommerce site that allows event venues and others purchasing table skirts direct from their website. Shipping is out of Memphis, Tennessee and they will pay brokerage and duties associated with linens crossing the United States/Canada border (often a surprise cost associated with shipping linens from the US).

5. Sysco Guest Supply

Owned by foodservice giant Sysco, Sysco Guest Supply focuses on the hospitality sector only offering guest amenities, textiles and housekeeping products. No pricing or product selection is available online however they mention they have a wide array of colours and sizes of tablecloths and napkins which includes table skirts.

Hopefully one of these companies (if not us!) can help you find the table skirts you need.
