Coming Soon!

As I previously mentioned, we're absolutely thrilled when a container of new products arrives at our door. On Monday we received a container of porcelain which included our new Polar White Line. We've take a good look at all the pieces in the line and we have to say that we're absolutely thrilled with the quality of porcelain that the factory has provided us. Our new Polar White Line is sure to be a big hit. If you're curious about it, please let us know and we'll see if we can get you a sample.

NES Reliable Folding Pedestal Table

We didn't just receive our new Polar White line of dinnerware on our most recent container. We also received a large order of our larger rectangular platters. We're happy to say that we've got all of our rectangular serving platters back in stock prior to the busy season. These porcelain platters come in numerous sizes and are perfect for everything from serving a turkey to individual use as a plate.

Coming Soon

We just received word that a couple of containers that we've been waiting for are finally on their way. In the first container which is expected by the end of January, we have our new NES Reliable Folding Pedestal Table. They are just as strong as our regular NES Reliable High Plastic Folding Cocktail Tables, but instead of a scissor type leg, they have a pedestal design. This innovative design allows for the use of standard spandex cruiser tablecloths and allows for some incredibly innovative designs. With the NES Reliable Folding Pedestal Table, you can install a led light (not included) in the centre column area and wow your customers. And unlike traditional pedestal table, the NES Reliable Folding Pedestal Tables are one piece. You will no longer need to worry about missing bases, poles, or table tops! NES Reliable Folding Pedestal Tables will be available at the end of January 2013 and will have an introductory price of $89.95/ea.

Royal Blue on Grey Plastic Folding Chairs

Another product which we will be stocking in Q1 of 2013 is the Royal Blue on Grey NES Reliable Plastic Folding Chairs. This particular colour combination has been a special order item for the past few years, but will be a stocking colour near the end of February. With the addition of Royal Blue on Grey, we will be stocking 8 different colour combinations: white on white, black on black, grey on grey, tan on tan, brown on tan, burgundy on grey, and slate blue on grey. Looking forward to Q2 of 2013, we hope to add Black on Grey plastic folding chairs to our stocking line-up.

2013 is going to be a great year for New Products from National Event Supply. We hope you'll follow us on Twitter and Facebook to keep up with all of the additions. If you have any suggestions for products you think we should add or if you have any questions about any new products we've announced, I hope you'll drop us a line!

National Event Supply Holiday Hours

Rainbow Christmas TreeIt's just five days until Christmas (or one day until the end of the world) and we're still going strong here at National Event Supply. I've gotten my oval platter for the turkey and some Serenity Champagne Flutes for the Christmas Morning Brunch; presents have been bought and delivered (but not yet wrapped); and the baking is under control (for the most part).

On the work front we've sent postcards to our BC Rental customers inviting them to come see us at the BC Rental Show, Stephanie is putting the finishing touches on our new catalogue, Jonathan is putting together trade show booths, and Dennis is making sure we'll have enough product for the spring. We're all working on making sure that 2013 will be the best year ever, but before the calendar flips over, we're all going to take a quick break to recharge our batteries.

With that in mind, National Event Supply will be closed from 5:00pm December 21, 2012 until 9:00am January 2, 2013. In this season of good will, we wish you and your family best wishes of the season and hope that you have a happy and healthy new year! And if the world ends on the 21st it was great doing business with you.

How Much Weight Can Plastic Folding Card Tables Hold?

We've made several videos recently featuring our plastic folding chairs. We've loaded them with weight until they collapsed, and done a time lapse with them holding almost 400 pounds. With those in mind, we decided to do a video featuring our NES Reliable Square Plastic Folding Card Table. We know that these tables are as strong as our NES Reliable Folding Banquet Tables, but we wanted to show you that they weren't nearly as rickety as the card table of old. My grandmother has an old card table, and I swear that it would collapse if there was a strong breeze. And I know that our plastic folding card table won't.

As you can see from the video, the NES Reliable Square Plastic Folding Card Table easily held over 1100 pounds. In other words, the three lineman in the picture below could stand together on the table (if they could fit) and not break it. That being said, we don't encourage table dancing!

Three Big Guys!

We're so happy with our NES Reliable Square Plastic Folding Card Tables, that we've started stocking them in our Vancouver warehouse. So if you need a plastic folding card table in Vancouver, Victoria, Edmonton, Calgary or points in between, we're able to quickly ship you a table and reduce the cost of shipping!

If you have any questions about the NES Reliable Square Plastic Folding Card Table or any of our other products, please don't hesitate to drop us a line! Our salestaff are more than happy to answer any of our questions.

Insights for Golf Courses

National Golf Club Owners AssociationIn the Winter 2012 edition of the Golf Business Canada Magazine, Jeff Calderwood wrote about the behaviour of Canadian Golfers. His 10 insights are based on findings from a national survey conducted by Navicom for the National Allied Golf Associations. To find a full copy of the study please visit www.canadagolfs.ca or www.ngcoa.ca.

The 10 Trends that Jeff documented were:

  1. The number of people entering the game equals the number leaving
  2. The number of golfers playing less golf now is much higher than the number playing more
  3. There are fewer juniors entering the game today than the previous generation
  4. 25% of golfers are truly engaged in the sport, while 75% are not
  5. 73% of Canadians do not play golf
  6. The shift from memberships to public golf continues
  7. Golfers' spending is generally flat
  8. Avid and frequent golfers remain a solid base
  9. Women are an opportunity for growth but are a very difficult segment to market to
  10. Consumer behaviour varies by demographic

All of the points that Jeff makes are crucial when evaluating the position of your golf course in your local market. For example, if people are playing less golf, you may not have the same connection that you may have had previously. This can make it a little more difficult for you and your staff to make them feel welcome or to anticipate their needs. If a person walks into your golf course and feels intimidated by the staff or atmosphere that has been created, they may not come back.

You will also want to consider new ways to reach your target audience to get them out to your golf course. If you're looking to increase the traffic in your club's restaurant, you might consider purchasing new dinnerware that will make your food pop. Today restaurants use mixtures of square, oval, and rectangular plates in addition to the standard round plates. A welcoming place to relax after finishing the back nine can make your course that much more appealing.

If you're looking to increase the revenues that you get from weddings or special events held at your course, you could purchasing Chiavari chairs or White Resin Folding Chairs. Both options are extremely popular in the event sector and often help venues win business that they will not otherwise win.

I encourage all Golf course operators to read Jeff’s article in the Golf Magazine for more insights into what you can do to help your golf course. I also recommend that you take a look at the survey for yourself because it will likely present more opportunities for your golf course in your local market.

If you are interested, we can be of assistance in purchasing new and cost effective dinnerware, cutlery, tables, chairs, platters, bowls or glassware to really make your golf course pop, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Be sure to plan ahead for your spring, we see such a significant increase in purchase volumes from golf courses that it is hard for us to keep inventory of our White resin folding chairs and our Chiavari chairs.

National Event Supply at the Golf Business Canada Show
Serenity Crystal

On November 15th and 16th, the National Event Supply Tradeshow Team was at the Deerhurst Resort in Hunstville, Ontario exhibiting at the 2012 Golf Business Canada Show. This is the fourth time that we've done this show, and this year's show was once again at a great location. Deerhurst Resort is where the leaders from the G8 countries met for their G8 Summit in June of 2010.

Once again we had a great booth location, located on the right hand aisle directly across from one of the world’s leading Golf Club suppliers, Club Car. Club Car was also a Gold Sponsor for the event this year.

We spent Thursday afternoon setting up our booth to show a wide selection of our dish lines including our best-selling Quadrato Square dinnerware, our Hotelier Round dinnerware, and our everyday value Pearl White line. This year's show was the first time we had the opportunity to show our new Serenity Crystal Stemware, and it was very well received. We also showed a range of our folding tables and chairs, including our very popular resin Chiavari chairs. Because we had so many products to show this year, it took us most of the afternoon to get set up.

National Golf Club Owners Association

The show started Friday at 10am with a flurry of activity as the attendees rushed in to see the new and exciting products they could buy for next year’s Golf Season. The National Event Supply booth was quite busy throughout the day, and we were pleased to able to see a number of our current customers including Ryan Seutter from Country Side Golf Course in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Brenda O’Reilly of Stone Tree Golf and Fitness Club in Owen Sound, Ontario and Vince Boada from the Cardinal Golf Club in Kettleby, Ontario. We also met with quite a few new Golf Club Owners we had never seen before. For the most part, Golf Clubs were interested in how we could help them drive new revenues (from Weddings or Special Events) or how we could help them save money in their Food & Beverage Operations. While most of the Golf Clubs were interested in the broad range of products we have to offer, the most popular items were our always popular White Wedding Style Resin Folding chairs, our Plastic folding tables, and our large Melamine serving platters and bowls.

During the show we had the pleasure of meeting with Don MacKay, the outgoing President of the NGCOA and owner of the Muskoka Highlands Golf Club. Don thanked us for our participation and support of the NGCOA’s annual Golf Business Canada Show. If you didn't make it to the show and would like to learn about products that can help drive events to your course, please don't hesitate to ask us any questions.
