Round banquet table sizes

Round Table at WeddingThere are a number of different shapes and sizes of banquet tables. The most common shapes include serpentine tables, round banquet tables, rectangular banquet tables and cocktail tables or cruiser tables. For the sake of this blog post, we’re going to examine the most common sizes for round banquet tables.

The smallest size of round banquet tables is the 36” round banquet table. This 3 foot round banquet table generally fits 4 people comfortably around the table. It is a less common size and because of this lack of demand thus far, National Event Supply does not currently stock this size.

The next size up for round banquet tables is the 48" round banquet table. This 4 foot round banquet table generally fits 5 people comfortable seated around the table. We offer this size in both a plywood round folding table and a blow-mold round folding table.

The next size for round banquet tables is the 60" round banquet table. This 5 foot round banquet table along with the largest size banquet table (below) are the most common sizes requested in round banquet tables. This size of banquet table seats 8 people comfortably around the table. We offer this size in both a round wood folding table and a round plastic folding table.

The largest size for round banquet tables is the 72" round banquet table. This 6 foot round banquet table seats 10 people comfortably around the table. As mentioned above, as it can seat up to 10 people, it is one of the most common size tables for receptions and other events such as conventions that require adequate seating in a limited space. We offer this size table in both a plywood round folding table and a plastic round folding table.

How much weight can a 60 Inch Plastic Round Folding Table Hold?

Round Folding TableIt's no secret that we've been attending trade shows. Just before we went to The 2014 Rental Show in Orlando, we loaded up an iPad with all the movies that we've made so that we could show attendees just how strong our products are. We showed them how much weight our 6-ft NES Reliable Rectangular Plastic Folding Tables and our 8-ft NES Reliable Rectangular Plastic Folding Tables could hold. We also put an 8-ft NES Rectangular Wood Folding Table to the test. After seeing these videos, the trade show team was told, "Your rectangular tables are impressive, but what about your round folding tables?"

After hearing that our customers were interested in what it takes to break our round plastic and wood folding tables, we knew that we had to push a video starring our 60" round folding table to the head of the line. Today, we have a video featuring our 60 Inch NES Reliable Plastic Round Folding Table. This is the most popular size of round folding table that we sell, and is manufactured to hold 1000 pounds evenly distributed across the top of the table. Want to see how much weight we could load onto the table? Watch the video and find out!

What to Do When the Top Layer of a Wood Table is Cracked and Peeling

june-22-wood-TOne of the fantastic things about wood folding tables is the ability to refurbish the top layer should there be any issues after the continual wear and tear of renting them out. We have been asked on occasion what to do when the top layer of a wood table is cracked and peeling. This blog post will give you two suggestions of potential solutions to this question.

The first thing I would suggest you do is check the thickness of your wood table and the depth of your cracks. Ensuring you have at least 1/2 inch + of thickness with your table will protect you from the tabletop being unable to support weight when in use.

Suggestion 1:

If you plan to use the wood table without table linens or the tables are too thin, unfortunately you should start thinking about table replacement instead of repair.

Suggestion 2:

If you plan to use the wood table with table linens and have at least 1/2 inch + of thickness available you can refinish the table to get rid of the cracks / peeling. To do this I would recommend the following steps:

  1. Remove tabletop from table legs and use saw horses to prop the tabletop up.
  2. Using a paint scraper, scrape all the peeling areas free of the excess varnish.
  3. Examine the cracks and determine if they’re shallow enough to sand out or if they need to be filled with a wood filler.
  4. If the cracks need to be filled, get a wood filler that doesn’t shrink after drying and overfill the cracks to ensure the crack is completely filled.
  5. Using a handheld or electric sander, start with a coarse grained sandpaper (120 grit) moving to 150 grit and 180 grit for the smoothest finish. You want to be sanding just enough with each to remove the scratches of the previous grit. The reason for moving from a coarser grit to a smoother grit is the coarser sand paper will make it easier to cut through and remove problem areas (such as cracks and peeling) while the smoother grit finishes off the wood to a smooth finish.
  6. Once the wood table top has been sanded to your satisfaction, finish off the table top with a clear varnish to protect the wood, reattach the table legs and you’re good to go!
