Why Adding Event Tables and Chairs to Your Rental Inventory is Good Business

Event Tables and ChairsPerhaps you own a party rental company that only deals in dinnerware, flatware, glassware and linens, or you’re an inflatable rental company or a tool and small equipment company – whatever the case may be I’m sure you’ve thought at one point in time about investing in event tables and event chairs.

There are a million reasons why to not do something – initial investment, lack of storage space, lack of staff etc but have you considered the positive reasons?

Chances are if you already have recurring customers, you have fans that want to work with you. Not only would adding tables and chairs to your inventory bring you in new customers but your repeat customers who know and like working with you more often than not will order what they’ve already been ordering from you PLUS event tables and chairs.

This means your average order revenue will increase. People are more likely to buy from who they already know and trust. Being able to increase what you can offer your customers will mean more purchases per order.

Wood Cross Back Chairs Now in Stock

Rustic wood cross back chairs in a wedding setting

The rustic wedding theme has been trending for a little over a year now. At the heart of the trend, is barn venues, harvest tables and cross back chairs. During that time, we’ve been working hard to find a supplier that we could put our name behind. It took a number of trips overseas, and numerous samples to finally find the right fit for us and our customers. I’m pleased to announce we now have Wood Cross Back Chairs in stock in our Mississauga warehouse.

It took much research of the cross back colour trends as well as surveying a variety of our trusted rental company advisors to settle on the colours we decided to bring in (to start with at least!). We have in stock a Rustic wood cross back chair (my personal favourite) as well as a Dark Brown wood cross back chair that looks phenomenal with the natural cushion.

Constructed of elm wood, the National Event Supply Wood Cross Back Chairs are a fantastic addition to your rental inventory, banquet hall or restaurant. They are available for purchase with or without a cushion depending on the look you desire, and make the perfect addition to a variety of event themes. Because of their design, they hug the back of a person’s body making for a comfortable seating experience.

Additional Details:

  • Constructed of Elm wood
  • Non-marring floor glides
  • Available with or without a natural cushion
  • Available in Rustic (white washed) or Dark Brown Wood
  • Stackable up to 8 chairs high
  • Solid wood seat
  • Curved back that molds to the body
  • Dimensions: chair from bottom of legs to top of chair back: 35.5” high, seat is: 16.25” deep x 17.5”wide

Depending on your location, cross back chairs rent at a price per chair similar or higher than a chiavari chair.

Special Event Trends from the 2016 Rental Show Floor

One of the perks about attending the Rental Show is the ability to see all the trendsetters in one convenient location. I thankfully had a chance to walk the show floor on the last day of the 2016 Rental Show in Atlanta, Georgia and started to see some trends forming as I wandered. Trends in special event sales can be useful as they help party rental companies forecast what their clients may want to rent this upcoming season. Without further ado, here’s a list of the trends I uncovered on the show floor:

Rose Gold

Playing off of the Rose Quartz Pantone Colour of the Year, Rose Gold cutlery, table linens and other décor items were all over the floor.

Hammered Metal Serveware

Lending itself to a more modern and contemporary event, hammered metal serveware in stainless steel and other metals such as copper have gained popularity.

Rustic Event Equipment and Event Décor

Economy Tent had a great looking rustic setup in their booth at the rental show featuring burlap tablecloths, and Whiskey Barrels. Palmer Snyder showcased a rustic folding table featuring antique sewing machine legs along with a wood top adjustable stool (regrettably both not on their website). Crossback chairs are still trending as well for upscale events with unlimited budgets.

More Leasing Companies

This Rental Show brought out a lot more rental company focused leasing companies – who understand how to provide leasing / financing to seasonal businesses. Vendors at the show included:

  • Allied Financial Solutions
  • ClearView Financial
  • Full Circle Finance
  • GreatAmerica Financial Services
  • Lynnray Financial Corp
  • M2 Lease Funds
  • OFE Business Credit
  • Priority Capital

Mobile Luxury Washroom Trailers

There’s definitely a separate rental industry devoted to the renting of portable toilets. What seems to be stemming from the wants of the consumer market though, are more luxurious toilet facilities when a rental is necessary.

Modern and Contemporary Lounge Furniture

At the opposite end of rustic, there were definitely more contemporary and modern lounge furniture that were shown on the floor. Home décor aesthetics in the forms of lounge areas with comfortable couch seating and stylish armchairs is becoming a trend in the higher-end special events.

Party Rental Forecast 2016

Party Rental Forecast

There are a number of sources I tend to turn to when I need information on special events – BizBash Magazine, Special Events Magazine, InTents Magazine, the American Rental Association, and the Canadian Rental Association are just a few that are my go-tos. The American Rental Association has a fantastic Rental Market Monitor that includes quarterly forecasts in Construction and Industrial Equipment, General Tool and Party and Event categories. They also provide further analysis into the Canadian versus United States rental markets. This is a helpful tool that we use to identify market trends and forecast when to expand our business. While the rental market monitor relies on a common analytical framework using a combination of expertise, models, data and software, Special Events Magazine and BizBash tends to get market information directly from party rental companies – who live and breathe the trends on a daily basis.

Special Events Magazine recently released an article summarizing their recent survey findings from the special events industry with good news. “80% of the respondents surveyed forecast strong business this year – predicting they will handle more events than they did in 2015”. Not only was this forecast stated, but the greatest challenges facing rental operations in 2016 as well as the top strategies rental operators are going to use to adapt to the 2016 rental marketplace were also mentioned. Head over to the Party Rental Forecast 2016 to read more of the fascinating findings.
