Gold Resin Chiavari Chairs vs. Gold Wood Chiavari Chairs

Gold Chiavari Chairs at Event

https://www.theknot.com/

Gold Chiavari chairs are the hottest event chair this season. We haven’t been able to keep them in stock and have had a solid list of back orders practically the entire year. With the season slowing down a bit I thought it made sense to write a post showcasing the pros and cons of gold resin Chiavari chairs versus gold wood Chiavari chairs. We’re anticipating gold Chiavari chairs will still be popular into 2017 so this post will give businesses who haven’t purchased gold Chiavari chairs yet, the chance to review which chair best suits their business needs. Read on for the comparison.

Gold Resin Chiavari Chairs

Pros:

  • 4mm thick resin and 1mm thick hollow steel frame support (ours has a steel frame to provide additional support and durability – not all Gold Resin Chiavari’s do though)
  • Seams are virtually invisible
  • Resin at the core is a similar colour to the gold coating colour and because of that does not show scratches as easily as wood or aluminum (i.e. gold high gloss finish when scratched would show a gold toned core)
  • Solid resin seat allowing for easy change out of cushions
  • 2 horizontal chair rails similar to the traditional Chiavari chair look
  • Resin Chiavari chairs can hold over 1000lbs making them an extremely strong chair
  • Resin less likely to succumb to water damage if accidently left out to the elements

Cons:

  • Generally more expensive than a wood or aluminum Chiavari chair – but also tend to last longer
  • Cannot be re-painted or re-stained as easily as a wood Chiavari
  • Chairs weigh 13lbs each – tend to weigh more than wood or aluminum – especially if there’s a steel core frame
  • Not all resin Chiavari chairs are the same chair – which leads to confusion in the marketplace

Gold Wood Chiavari Chairs

Pros:

  • The authentic Chiavari Chair – over 200 years old – has always been wood
  • Gold Wood Chiavari Chairs have a matte finish which some companies really like
  • Wood Chiavari chairs are easier to re-finish
  • Weigh less than a resin Chiavari chair
  • Less expensive chair than a resin Chiavari chair
  • Costs can be reduced further with knocked down unassembled wood Chiavari chairs

Cons:

  • Gold Wood Chiavari Chair shows a natural wood colour when it chips or scratches
  • Knocked down unassembled gold wood Chiavari chairs need their screws tightened often
  • Knocked down unassembled gold wood Chiavari chairs can be less sturdy / strong if proper care isn’t taken to ensure the screws and bolts are fastened.
  • Wood Chiavari Chairs often need their paint touched up after events
  • Can succumb to water damage if left outside for prolonged periods of time

White Resin Folding Chairs vs. White Wood Folding Chairs

White Resin Folding ChairsThe most popular type of event chair we sell has always been the white resin folding chair. It has such a classic style and is an elegant, stylish and affordable alternative to a more expensive chiavari chair. Because of this, party rental companies, event venues, and golf courses buy thousands every year to appease special event coordinators and brides. Because of this classic event chair silhouette, I thought it made sense to provide an honest comparison between a white wood folding chair versus a white resin folding chair. This will let you decide what folding chair you feel makes the most sense for your business – while providing a transparent look at the pros and cons of each kind of chair.

Below is a detailed comparison of the resin vs wood folding chair.

White Resin Folding Chairs

Pros:

  • During informal stress tests, breaks at 748lbs of weight
  • Stackable when folded flat and locks in place to other chairs – requiring no additional straps
  • Doesn't show scratches due to resin being same colour throughout chair
  • Low maintenance cost
  • Screw covers are replaceable
  • Screw covers flush with resin
  • Seat is replaceable

Cons:

  • Higher initial cost to purchase
  • Slightly heavier in weight 9.9lbs
  • Can yellow with age
  • Harder to repair – more likely to have to replace

White Wood Folding Chairs

Pros:

  • Lower initial cost to purchase
  • Slightly lighter in weight 9.1 lbs
  • Stackable when folded flat
  • Seat is replaceable should it be stained or ripped
  • Easy to repair as wood can be sanded and re-painted

Cons:

  • Shows scratches easily when the wood is painted as wood interior is light
  • Need to be secured with bungee cords or ratchet tie down straps as wood folding chairs don’t lock together when stacked and will move unless secured
  • Screw covers are not replaceable
  • Screw covers are not flush with wood
  • Higher maintenance costs associated (wood needs to be sanded and repainted or re-stained to properly maintain)

Each folding chair has plenty of fans and has widespread penetration into the special events market. Whichever chair you decide upon will be a popular chair for your rental inventory or will provide you with lots of event business. Hopefully this comparison post will give you the information you need to make the decision that’s right for you and your business.

3 Common Misconceptions about Crystal Stemware

Crystal Stemware Misconceptions

Crystal stemware is used a lot in fine dining restaurants as well as rented out to special events where a little sparkle is necessary on the table – or if a more luxurious atmosphere is wanted. It tends to be synonymous with a higher end price tag. There are misconceptions that exist with both crystal stemware and glass stemware but today I’m going to touch on the 3 misconceptions that people often assume about crystal stemware – in no particular order.

1. It’s really expensive

While it is true it can be a more expensive – this is more often than not the result of how it is manufactured and who is selling the crystal stemware. Crystal stemware that is hand blown by master craftsman is obviously going to be priced higher because of the human labour involved in producing it. Also, glass blowers are not a dime a dozen and is a craft that doesn’t have millions flocking to learn the trade. That being said, crystal stemware can be machine made – making the glasses more uniform in appearance and lowering unit costs. Also, companies that sell crystal stemware get very good at knowing how to specifically market crystal to appeal to our wants of luxury, fine craftsmanship and extravagance. Because of this, the pricing has been inflated because they have created a market that can support a higher price. Looking for wholesale suppliers of crystal stemware can help alleviate these higher prices.

2. It’s even more breakable than glass

While generally a more breakable substance than glass, crystal stemware tends to have the same issues that also occur with glass stemware. The bowls of the crystal and glass stemware can pop off the foot. That being said, assuming you handle crystal stemware like it can break – and that it isn’t indestructible – it should hold up well for you.

3. It’s not safe because of lead content

Health Canada’s stance on lead crystal is that it may release lead into your food or beverage. That being said, there is lead-free crystal stemware that exists these days. This eliminates the worry that may exist of potential lead poisoning.

5 Signs You Should Invest in Chiavari Chairs

5 Signs to Invest in Chiavari Chairs

Chiavari Chairs are a special event favourite. If you’re in the wedding industry they can be especially important with brides demanding Chiavari chairs more and more for their weddings. But not every party rental company and event venue has the need to buy Chiavari chairs. Some event venues attract primarily corporate meetings and events. Some party rental companies only rent out for tradeshows, corporate clients or their market doesn’t support a Chiavari chair (i.e. their customers don’t have the money for a higher price rental). Whatever the case may be, it doesn’t always pay to buy Chiavari chairs. If you’re wondering whether you should invest in Chiavari chairs, check out this post to learn 5 signs that suggest it might be time to invest in Chiavari chairs.

1. You're losing out on business

If potential customers are coming to your event venue or rental organization and you’re losing business to competitors with Chiavari chairs, it may be time to invest in Chiavari chairs.

2. Brides are specifically asking for them

If your customer base is already asking for Chiavari’s you know that the demand is there - which is half the battle in bringing a new product in.

3. You’ve cross rented or rented Chiavari chairs more than 10 times

If you’re cross-rented or rented Chiavari chairs more than 10 times, you would already have recouped your initial investment in Chiavari chairs – so it makes monetary sense to invest in the chairs to avoid paying more money in rentals.

4. You’re looking to expand your business

Chiavari chairs becomes another piece of inventory you can use to drive more business. If you’re an event venue, having Chiavari chairs is never a bad thing towards increasing your wedding season bookings.

5. You can’t figure out how to increase your average total invoice

Having more products to offer often ends up translating to an increase in average total invoices. Most people are happy to do more business with companies they’re both familiar with and trust. Having Chiavari chairs in your rental inventory means more business not only for customers taking Chiavari chairs but also for customers taking Chiavari chairs plus your other inventory.
